Mon Sept 18th - Metalcore's favorite villains Attila would bring their "About That Life 10yr Tour" to The Forge in Joliet, IL on Monday night, currently in the midst of kicking off the 10-year anniversary tour in support of their 2013 album "About That Life". Tagging along for support on this run would be none other than fellow hard hitting metalcore alumni Gideon, as well a couple of the hottest bands in the scene right now with Ten56. and Until I Wake. The Forge is a popular music venue in Joliet, Illinois, just a few miles south of the historic old Joliet Prison, famous for the opening scene of the 1980 classic movie Blues Brothers. It's somewhat of a newer venue, having opened in 2017 after previously being known as Mojoes years prior, and has quickly become a favorite among local music fans, especially the metal community. The 1,200-person capacity venue is known for its open and modern design. The main room has a large stage with high-quality sound and recently upgraded lighting systems, making it an ideal venue for concerts of all genres. Aside from the main room, The Forge also has The Sapphire Room upstairs, which has a smaller lounge area and is ideal for more intimate performances or private events. The lounge has its own bar and seating area, and it's a great place to unwind before or after a show. The Forge is a top-notch music venue that's well worth a visit if you're in or around the Joliet area. What distinguishes Ten56. is their ability to combine the raw intensity of crushing new-age metalcore with a genuine exploration of real-world issues. Their music is visceral, combining groove-focused hits, thunderous breakdowns, and searing vocals. However, beneath the heavy riffs is a deeper meaning. Attila was founded in 2005 in Atlanta by Chris "Fronz" Fronzak, Sean Heenan, Sam Halcomb, Matt Booth, and Kris Wilson, who met in high school and through mutual friends. Frontman Fronzak named the band after Attila the Hun, who he read about in a book. In 2007, Attila self-released their demo album "Fallacy," followed by their debut album, "Soundtrack to a Party," with Statik Factory in 2008. In 2010, Attila signed with Artery Recordings and released their second album and major label debut, "Rage." "Outlawed," the band's next album, was released in August 2011 via Artery Recordings and Razor & Tie. The band announced in June 2012 that bassist Chris Comrie had left the band. The band issued a statement in which they stated that Comrie's departure was a personal decision and that they were still on good terms. After a few months, the band announced the addition of former For the Fallen Dreams guitarist Kalan Blehm as their new bassist. The band announced in early 2013 that they had finished writing their follow-up to "Outlawed" and had entered the studio. The band stated that the album would be their "heaviest" and "craziest" work to date. "About That Life" would be released in June of 2013. The band would also announce the release of their next album, "Guilty Pleasure," later that year in November. Alternative Press reported before the album's release that guitarist Nate Salameh had left the band in October. Salameh explained his decision by saying he "wanted to focus on living a drug and alcohol-free life." Attila announced in June 2016 that they had signed with SharpTone Records, a new label co-founded by Nuclear Blast CEO Markus Staiger and Shawn Keith. Their first and only album on the label, "Chaos," was released in November 2016. With another departure in 2017, Sean Heenan announced that he was leaving the band. The band later issued their own statement regarding his departure, citing the fact that it was "time to make a change to improve our rhythm section." After a year with SharpTone Records, Attila announced in February 2018 that they were no longer signed. Attila would go on to independently release their unrelenting album "Villain" in February 2019. Attila released a new song titled "Clarity" as the lead single from their upcoming ninth studio album "Closure" in early 2021. A few months later, Attila released another new song titled "Metalcore Manson" as the album's second single. The album would go on to be released in July of 2021. In 2023, the band has showed no signs of slowing down, releasing "Handshakes With Snakes," "Bite Your Tongue," and "Mia Goth," the latter two showcasing Fronz's new clean vocal style, which appears to be well received by the fan base. Attila has received both praise and criticism over the years for their controversial lyrics and explicit content. They've amassed a devoted fanbase known as the "Attila Empire," while also facing criticism from critics who find their content offensive, to which they respond, "Suck my fuck."
