Brzask Announce Debut Album "Der Wanderer im Riesengebirge" Out May 2 Via Vendetta Record

Polish black metal outfit Brzask will release their debut album "Der Wanderer im Riesengebirge" on May 2, 2025, through Vendetta Records. Inspired by the folklore and landscapes of the Karkonosze mountains, the record blends raw black metal with narrative depth rooted in Slavic myth.

Brzask's debut album, "Der Wanderer im Riesengebirge", is a cold and unrelenting dive into the myths and legends of the Karkonosze mountains. Set for release on May 2, 2025, via Vendetta Records, the album blends the raw ferocity of 90s black metal with stories drawn from the folklore of their native Poland.

Formed in 2019, Brzask emerged from the shadowy peaks of the Karkonosze region, a landscape steeped in dark tales and ancient traditions. Their music channels that sense of mystery, turning old legends into harsh, brooding soundscapes. The influence of the mountain spirit Rübezahl runs through the album’s core, with themes of greed, betrayal, and the wisdom of those who once walked these lands shaping much of the narrative.

The album’s journey begins with Frozen Horizon, a chilling tribute to those who perished in the mountains, their spirits lingering in the cold winds. The title track, Der Wanderer im Riesengebirge, follows a seeker’s path from Thuringia to the Karkonosze mountains, uncovering lessons not found in books but in the forces of the natural world. Ravens of Łomnica retells the tale of two brothers divided by greed. The humble brother is guided to treasure by ravens, but when his wicked sibling tries to claim the same reward, the birds turn on him in a fatal reckoning.

The Herbalist pays tribute to the laborers and healers of Karkonosze, whose knowledge of the land’s hidden properties reflects generations of passed-down wisdom. Spring of the Sacred Elbe explores ancient Slavic traditions tied to the Elbe River, while A Tale of Sand and Fire tells the story of the Walloons, whose search for hidden treasures became part of the region’s history.

Brzask first caught attention with their 2020 demo, a raw and atmospheric release that resonated in underground circles. Its reputation led to a reissue in 2021 via Canada’s Black Market Metal Label, expanding the band’s presence on the global stage. Since then, Brzask has earned a reputation for intense live performances, combining the aggression of Mayhem and Emperor with the melodic undercurrents of Dissection.

Der Wanderer im Riesengebirge reflects years of dedication to both their music and the stories that shaped their homeland. Brzask has taken those old whispers from the mountains and transformed them into something harsh, cold, and unforgettable.
